Welcome to another edition of What’s Cooking Wednesday featuring another Sam Family kitchen staple – Chow Mein. The secret to making this popular Asian dish is preparing the ingredients ahead of time. Come dinner time, all you have to do is throw everything in the wok and boom your chow mein is ready in less then 15 minutes!
Crispy Stir Fry Noodles
Ingredients
- 1 package of Farkay Steam Fried Noodles
- 3 red peppers sliced
- 2 cups (approximate – I don’t measure when I cook) of blanched bok choy
- 1 package of fried tofu triangles
- 1 cup of diced BBQ pork
- 1 1/2 cup of chicken stock
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbs oyster sauce
- 1 tbs soya sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
In a large bowl, stir together chicken stock, water, oyster and soya sauce and sesame oil and set aside. Heat wok or large skillet over medium high flame. Add 1 tbs of vegetable oil. Add vegetables, tofu and BBQ pork and saute until peppers are tender crisp. Add noodles and liquid mixture. Stir fry until noodles are evenly coated with sauce and thoroughly heated.
Tip: If you don’t have a large wok you can spread the noodles out in a parchment lined 9 x 13 baking pan. Pour the liquid ingredients over the noodles and stir until evenly coated. In a large skillet, saute the veggies, pork and tofu and then toss on top of the noodles. Bake in a preheated 375F oven for 20 minutes or until noodles are heated through.
