I enjoy working on all my projects but one of my favourites is definitely the Ikea Billy Bookcase makeover. We had three birch veneer Billy bookcases that no longer fit our needs or the look and feel of our home. Instead of giving them away, I decided to give two of them a facelift with a few coats of primer, paint and some basic trim.
This was the before:

I love how the makeover turned out. I love it so much that I decided to makeover more Billy Bookcases! Yes, we have a lot of bookcases lying around but who’s counting?
The latest Billy Bookcases are going in my daughter’s bedroom. This is what they look like “as is”:
This is what I have completed so far. The three bookcases have been screwed together. I also added trim and a piece of shelving on top to give the illusion of the three pieces being one large scale unit.
Even though I’m not finished, you can see how a little bit of trim goes a long way in changing the look of the Billy bookcases.
So that was just a little sneak peek of my current project. The “big reveal” is coming soon (I hope).

Ha ha! It’s called time management! 1 kid in school, 1 kid in preschool and 1 kid napping = 1 hour or so of free time for mommy.
